WHAT IS FOREVER FIT
Forever Fit is a fitness class designed for those who like perhaps a more gentle approach to exercise. We encourage exercise as a healthy way of life and it all doesn't have to be shouty and boot camp style. But don't be fooled completely, it will get you out of breath and a little out your comfort zone... New members are made to feel very welcome, Forever Fit is aimed at the active 50+ sector who wish to maintain their fitness throughout life! There are a variety of ages within the class; some participants have just turned 50, others are in their seventies, but all have a common goal - to stay forever young!
SO WHAT WILL FOREVER FIT DO FOR ME?
- Improve your joint flexibility and range of movement
- Increase mobility
- Improve your cardiovascular function
- Burn calories
- Reduce your stress levels
- Provide a lasting sense of well-being and calm
- Make new friends!
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You'll need a short workout mat (not a long yoga one) You should wear comfortable workout clothes and trainers(no black soles). You may also want to bring a water bottle and towel.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE CLASSES?
Forever Fit is held weekly at Marske Leisure Centre on a Wednesday morning from 9.30 - 10.15 am.
HOW MUCH ARE THE CLASSES?
Classes are £4.50 per session. Check out our Special Offers and discounts though for some great savings on classes.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND?
You'll feel real benefits from coming to a class just once each week but combining the class with other forms of exercise makes for a really great workout. Why not try Zumba, Pilates and Bums & Tums too.
WHEN WILL I NOTICE RESULTS?
It usually takes about three classes to understand the feel and structure of the class and moves. You may experience some mild muscle soreness at first but this will quickly pass and be followed by noticeable strength and flexibility gains and postural improvement.
SO DESCRIBE A TYPICAL CLASS
Every week we do something different. We may do a Legs, Bums & Tums class, a circuit class, an aerobics class, a dance class etc, etc. Whatever we do in the class one thing is always the same. We always have fun and always enjoy a cuppa and a chat afterwards! Please feel free to come along and sit in a class first if you prefer. You will then have a better idea of what the class is all about.
HOW DO I DO FOREVER FIT SAFELY?
Your teacher is there to make sure you do everything correctly, but try to remember:
- Good posture is the foundation of all exercise.
- Focus on learning the right technique at the beginning.
- Work continuously at perfecting your technique.
- Perform the movements with control - smooth actions, not jerky.
- Always keep your joints slightly bent, don't lock out your arms or legs.
- Listen to your body, it will tell you if something is not right.
- should feel challenging, but at any time you need to take a rest, that's fine!
Some muscle pain is natural at first, especially if it's the same on both sides of your body. This is muscle soreness. Muscle soreness is typical when starting out on a training programme and normally occurs 24 to 48 hours after exercise. If you have pain down only one side or in the joints, check with the teacher. If the pain continues, see your doctor.
